Seize the day or hit snooze?

Seize the day, always.

What motivates you in the morning?

Knowing I get to make people’s lives easier – whether that’s through writing compelling copy to help take their business to the next level, by sharing my advice for self-employed success through Survival Skills for Freelancers, or through mentoring, podcast interviews or events.

What would your dream weekend involve?

I had one recently, actually! An early morning drive to Bath, coffee by the abbey watching the world go by from our window seat, a few hours in the Thermae Spa (in fairness, my dream weekend would’ve also included a hot stones massage and a facial…), the most incredible lunch with a glass of wine (just the one), a bit of shopping then a walk in the park, down by the river. Ending the day with a movie in a cinema with cosy sofas – or perhaps a gig or a show – would be perfect.

What outfit, benched in lockdown, were you most looking forward to wearing and where did you first wear it?

I did that thing of wearing 10% of my wardrobe 80% of the time so, frankly, anything in the remaining 90% was a treat. One of my favourite looks is dresses with sneakers and a denim or leather jacket. I didn’t once wear a dress in lockdown so I’ve pretty much lived in them since.

What was the greatest day of your life?

Professionally, it was probably book launch day. It was such a high, and the freelance community were amazing – you couldn’t set foot on social media without bumping into photos, videos and reviews from people saying how much they loved it and why everyone should have a copy. Then there was finding out it was the number one bestseller in three Amazon categories, and ranked second in another, beaten only by Stephen King’s On Writing, which I adore. That was pretty mad!
