Pre-pandemic, if you had asked me what my idea of a perfect evening would be, I can guarantee it wouldn’t have involved a huge number of people. A few good friends for sure, definitely some wine, good food, maybe some music. Catch me on another day and I would probably have said the dream involved me, a sofa and a good book.

But now? It’s been a year and a half of the sofa, of one-on-one meet-ups or, if you’re lucky, groups of six. I’ve read the tower of books next to my bed, I’ve watched the whole of Netflix and I’ve walked every possible route within a two-mile radius of my house. And over the past few months, I’ve started craving a different kind of evening, one full of noise, fun and most importantly, a lot of people.

Of the many things I look back on with fond, rose-tinted glasses, I could never have predicted that crowds would be one of them.
