What we saw in Glasgow last week was extraordinary to many. For me, though, it was a very physical representation of what I see and feel from this city every day.

Each person standing on Kenmure Street represented a welcome letter, a donation, a kind word or a collaboration that Refuweegee, the charity I founded in 2015, has been privileged enough to be part of. This city’s unwavering strength in refusing the UK Home Office’s hostile environment comes as no surprise to me because I am surrounded by that gallus Glasgow embrace every single day.
