The announcement of another lockdown has hardly been music to anyone’s ears – but out on a walk, dying for the loo and aware of the consequences if I don’t empty my bladder fast, I can’t help but think it’s particularly bad news for chronic UTI sufferers like myself.

Anyone who’s had a urine infection will know the golden rule: when you do need to go, you go. Lockdown, in which all reliable neighbourhood cafés and even McDonalds are closed to the general public, is not conducive to this. So, each time I find myself scanning the streets for even a portaloo to duck into, aware I’m probably going to have to hang on for another half hour as I speed walk home, I know what’s coming.
